The Manhattan Track Club sent seven youth athletes to compete in the Junior Olympics in Greensboro, N.C., in late July. The kids represented several local schools, including Manhattan High School, Woodrow Wilson Elementary, Marlatt Elementary and Rock Creek Elementary.
Hanna Pellant, 12, competed in the 100-meter run, the 200-meter run and the long jump, placing ninth with a leap of 15 feet, 5-inches. Tanner Curtis, 15, also had a ninth-place finish in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 5-inches. Ryan Wichman, 11, competed in the discus and javelin. He took 20th in the discus after a throw of 59 feet, 7 inches.
Kyree Robinson, 8, competed in the long jump and the 200-meter, where he placed 44th and 74th, respectively. Samaria Robinson, 8, threw javelin and placed 46th. Barrett Gragg, 9, participated in the long jump as did Brandon Bullock, 9.
Bullock also competed in the javelin event, finishing 29th with a throw of 59 feet, 6 inches.
