Manhattan High softball’s season ended in Derby Tuesday night.

Dodge City dominated in the first round of sub-state, topping MHS 15-3 in five innings.

Dodge City gashed Manhattan and starter Paige Dupler for eight runs in the third inning, good for a 12-3 lead. The Red Demons tacked on another three in the fourth for the final margin.

The Indians plated three in the second, when senior McKenna Claussen and sophomore Emmy Fox recorded base hits to keep the inning alive.

Senior Allie Grant recorded one of her team’s few hits. Fellow senior Haleigh Harper went 0-for-3.

Dupler, who also went 2-for-2 at the plate and scored a run, gave up 10 runs on 12 hits, walked one and struck out one.

The Indians’ concluded the season with a 5-16 overall record.
