The Manhattan High varsity girls golf team came out of the Salina Central Lady Stangs tournament in first place, by just one stroke.

Manhattan’s final score of 177 topped nine other teams in the tournament, and barely edged Hays, which had 178.

Hays had two players sweep the top two spots on the individual leaderboard, tying each other with 40 strokes.

The Indians had several top finishers after those two, including senior Kami Bussman, who placed third with a score of 41. Juniors Rhys Phipps and Andi Siebert both finished with 44 strokes, and Emily Yerman (48), AJ Ryan (48) and Lizzy Tauschek (49) rounded out a consistent day for the Indians.

Manhattan was the only team to have every golfer shoot under 50 strokes on the day.
