Former Manhattan High distance runner Reid Buchanan showed out at the 2019 Pan American Games on Friday, winning a silver medal in the men’s 10,000-meter race. He finished with a time of 28:28.41.
Buchanan, who is signed with On Running, graduated from Manhattan High in 2011, where he ran for Susan Melgares and Kory Cool as a distance runner.
Buchanan ran all four years in college. He spent the first three years at Kansas, but stopped running for a year after he said he wasn’t pleased with his own progress. But he returned to run at the University of Portland for his senior year and earned first-team All-American honors in the 10,000-meter events at the outdoor track championships.
