It’s that time of year, Big 12 football season! We expect our Cats to make an impact on the field, and we need your help to make one off it. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be carrying out Cats for Cans on Oct. 26 when we take on OU at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Our aim is to raise $12,500 and 4,000 pounds of foods to combat hunger in Riley County.

Over 23,000 people turn to the Flint Hills Breadbasket each year for assistance. K-State has been nothing but amazing to me since I got here and I believe giving back to the community is a great way for my teammates and I to show our appreciation.

Our goals cannot be achieved without your help. On game day, student-athletes dressed in white will be collecting any monetary donations and food items that you are willing to donate.

This seems like a big task but I know it can be done because the people in the Little Apple have big hearts and always help those in need. A little goes a long way and any contributions would be greatly appreciated. The next time you head to the supermarket grab a few extra cans and bring them to the game. We will send OU packing and have the cans stacking.

On behalf of SAAC, thank you and I hope that you enjoy the game. Go Cats!
