Eradicate poverty before focusing on abortion

To the editor:

If you want to eradicate abortion, let’s eradicate poverty first. You can stop the supply, but that does not automatically stop the demand. According to the Guttmacher institute, 75% of women who have abortions are poor or low income.

My mother had me two weeks after her 15th birthday. Where is she now? Dead at the age of 42. Many studies have shown a correlation between income and life expectancy, and I am convinced a life rife with poverty and stress lead to her untimely death. As a society we failed her. We reside in the richest country in the world and we fail our mothers daily. The first step is to ease the burden on poor and low income families by granting them access to healthcare. I call on Senate President Susan Wagle to truly value them both and take up Medicaid Expansion in the Senate.

Here’s how to contact members of congress, Trump’s counsel

To the editor:

For community information: There is a phone number to Republican National Committee switchboard that gives numbers of congress members of both parties.

It will also connect with Republican membership office where a message can go through to President Trump’s counsel.

These offices are open till 5:30 p.m. central time.

Calls go through to president’s news room in White House Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. central time on phone number (202)456-1111.

In all cases, it’s best to write down what you want to say first and not be offensive or defensive but mostly observant..
