Kathleen S. French, age 68, of Manhattan, died Wednesday September 4, 2019 at her home.
Kathy was born on November 3, 1950 in Manhattan, to Michael J. and Patricia Morrand. She grew up in Ogden, Kansas and graduated from Luckey High School in 1968. She was a life-long member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ogden. On December 28, 1970 she was united in marriage to L. Steven French. They raised their three children in the Manhattan community and were very involved in their activities. Kathy worked for Southwestern Bell and Kansas Gas Service as a clerk for many years until she retired in 2012.
Kathy loved being a wife, mother, and grandma. She enjoyed her horses, traveling, working in her iris beds, and reading. Her most memorable moments involved spending time with her family and friends. When she wasn’t traveling, she enjoyed spending time at home on their hobby farm “The Franch”. Kathy’s fondest memories were of the family vacations and special trips she would take with her grandkids. Kathy had an infectious laugh, a wonderful sense of humor, and a beautiful smile. She enjoyed the simple moments of life and encouraged those around her to do the same.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Michael J and Patricia Morrand and her sister, Patricia L. (Patsy) Mayginnes.
In addition to her husband Steve, she is survived by her children: Mark & Bobbi French of Manhattan, Scott & Deanell French of Manhattan, and Nikole & Joshua Patt of Denver, Colorado.
