Joy Andersen, age 90, joined our Lord on Thursday May 23, 2019 at the Riley House of Meadowlark Hills, Riley, Kansas.

She was born on March 19, 1929 in Osborne County, Kansas the daughter of Wade and Eva (Trexler) Lockhart. Joy was a graduate of Ellsworth High School in 1947 and later worked in food service at the KSU Student Union from 1963 until 1994.

On October 13, 1947 she was married to Clayton Dale Andersen in Ellsworth, Kansas. This union was blessed with 4 children: Michael, Linda, Richard and Rhonda.

Joy enjoyed quilting, league bowling and she loved to grow beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. Above all, she loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clayton; her son: Michael: two brothers: DeWayne and DeWight Lockhart; a sister: Eldora Busby; 3 grandchildren: John Headrick and Robin Andersen, Wendy Mossi and 2 great-grandtwins: Brexton and Jordan Ayres

Survivors include her children: Linda Vincent (Elliott) of Fallon, NV; Richard Andersen (Sherry) of Reading, KS and Rhonda McCabe (Gary) of Manhattan, KS; a daughter-in-law: Rita Andersen of Emporia, KS; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister: Margaret Ellis of Watkinsville, GA and a brother: Wade Lockhart of Oberlin, KS. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday May 31, 2019 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas with Rev. Ben Duerfeldt officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery, Manhattan.

Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday May 30, 2019 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the KSU Gardens or to the Riley County Humane Society in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
