Diana Mae (Kessinger) McCaustland, 89, Manhattan, died Sunday, February 23, 2020, at Meadowlark Hills Honstead House.

Diana was born August 20, 1930 to Lester and Mary (Overmeyer) Kessinger in Gas, KS. Diana was raised in Iola, KS and graduated from Iola High School in 1948, where she was active in many activities and was an I O L A girl.

Diana attended Kansas State University where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and Phi Kappa Phi Honorary. Diana graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS degree in Medical Technology in 1952. She married her college sweetheart, Robert “Bob” McCaustland, on August 11, 1951 in Iola, KS.

After graduation from K-State, Diana and Bob moved back to Bob’s hometown of Bucklin, KS and established a veterinary medicine practice which Diana assisted him with.

Diana and Bob raised their three daughters in Bucklin where she was active in many church, school, and community activities. She was a member of Charme’ Club, EnAvant Club and United Methodist Women. She was also a Sunday School Teacher and Choir Member. One of her proudest accomplishments was being elected to the school board for the Bucklin School District, where she also served as Board President.

With retirement, Diana and Bob moved to Manhattan, KS where they enjoyed the community and K-State activities and sports. She was a member of FCE, PEO, Welcome Wagon, Ahearn Club, KSU Presidents Club and was a Trustee of the KSU Foundation. She served on several boards including the K-State Alumni, K-State Foundation, Sunset Zoo and Beach Museum.

Diana is survived by her three daughters, Heather Reed and husband Mike of Manhattan, KS, Lori Servis and husband Bob of Woodward, OK, Merilee Crow and her significant other Chris Lawson of Kansas City, MO and her twin brother Don Kessinger who resides at Meadowlark Hills in Manhattan, KS. Grandchildren are Erin Perez and husband Jason of Prairie Village, KS, Emily Arger and husband Gene of Spokane, WA, Britt Mendell and husband Clint of Woodward, OK, Talia Fowler and Joe Waldman of Edmond, OK, Kyle Crow and his wife Erika of Prairie Village, KS, Matthew Crow of Dallas, TX, Tanner Crow and his wife Sophie of Nashville, TN and Whitney Bradley and her husband Krey of Prairie Village, KS. Five great-granddaughters, Taylor Stevens, Lexi Mendell, Ruby Perez, Madelyn Perez and Vivian Arger. Five great-grandsons, Gavin Perez, Chace Mendell, Andreas Arger, Hudson Waldman and Robby Crow.

Diana was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” McCaustland, her parents, son-in-law Kevin Crow, sister-in-law Doris Kessinger, and nephew Miles Kessinger.

Visitation will be at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan, KS on Wednesday, February 26th from 6:00-7:30pm.

The Funeral Service will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Patty Brown-Barnett on Thursday, February 27th at 10:00am at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel in Manhattan, KS. Burial will follow immediately after the service in the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan, KS.

Memorials may be sent to the Robert and Diana McCaustland Athletic Scholarship (B78425) at Kansas State University and may be left or mailed to Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel 1616 Poyntz Ave Manhattan, KS 66502.
