The Riley County Commission on Thursday approved moving a customer service representative position from the motor vehicle fund to the treasurer’s general fund budget.
This means that this position, which has a salary of $44,263.91, will be paid from the treasurer’s general fund in 2020. Money for the position previously came from the county’s motor vehicle fund.
County treasurer Shilo Heger said this move gives her more room in the motor vehicle operation budget in 2020 to cover other expenses.
She said the motor vehicle operation budget has remained flat.
February employee of the month
Riley County human resource manager and deputy clerk Cindy Volanti is the employee of the month for February.
“This is awesome,” Volanti said. “I’m totally surprised.”
The commission and other county staff members recognized Volanti at Thursday’s meeting.
“I’m shocked,” Volanti said after receiving the award. “I’m just shocked. I just do my job. That’s all I do, so I appreciate it.”
DeAnn Breault, county administrative analyst and levy specialist, presented her with a certificate. Breault said Volanti was nominated in December by Barry Wilkerson, Riley County attorney.
“That’s awesome, Barry,” Volanti told Wilkerson. “Thank you. I appreciate that.”
Over the past six months, Volanti stepped in to assist with employee issues as the county attorney’s office has worked to fill vacancies, Breault said.
