Riley County police took a man threatening suicide into custody in Aggieville Sunday evening.
Officers arrived around 6 p.m., responding to a welfare check saying that the man was potentially suicidal and might have a firearm. Police could not confirm to The Mercury if he did.
An officer on the scene said the man, whose identity has not been released because he did not commit a crime, was safe and in police custody shortly before 8 p.m.
RCPD spokeswoman Hali Rowland said the incident took place inside a business in Aggieville but did not clarify which one.
Officers blocked traffic on North Manhattan Avenue from Anderson Avenue to Moro Street for about two hours while the situation was in progress.
Rowland said police took the man to receive mental health assistance Sunday night.
