Anthony Middle School was briefly in secure campus mode Thursday morning after a guest at the school stepped outside through a back door then tried getting back in.

Shortly after 11 a.m., the school announced that it was in a secure campus mode because of a report of someone on school grounds who was not supposed to be there. Riley County police officers investigated the report, but school officials found out the suspicious individual was a guest trying to get back into the school, principal Vickie Kline said.

“Secure campus is when there’s something possibly going on in the neighborhood or outside of our building that we need to check into,” Kline said.

Classes and lunch operations continued as normal, Kline said, and the secure campus was cancelled shortly after.
