Those near the 1500 block of Tuttle Creek Boulevard may hear loud booms Wednesday, but police say there is no reason to be alarmed.
Riley County officers on Wednesday will be participating in dynamic entry training, which will close parts of Holiday Drive and Meadows Lane from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
People may hear controlled explosions, but there is no danger to surrounding property or people, according to RCPD. The training exercises will not be open to the public.
“The ability to train officers on alternative entry methods in a real-world situation allows us to be better prepared to respond to certain emergency situations,” Sgt. Scott Hagemeister said in a statement.
Using dynamic entry tactics means officers use speed and surprise to overtake an individual and prevent them from taking up arms, harming hostages or destroying evidence.
