Manhattan High School Principal Greg Hoyt announced Friday he plans to retire after next school year.

“I will cherish the time that I have spent in USD 383, including the 13 years as a student and the past 30 as an employee,” Hoyt said in a statement. “I learned from the best, I’ve learned with the best, and I’ve been mentored and supported by the very best.”

Hoyt has been principal at MHS since 2014. Before that, he was principal at Eisenhower Middle School beginning in 2004. He started his career as a math teacher at Manhattan High in 1988.

Hoyt, 53, said his retirement will be effective July 1, 2019.
