Members of the Manhattan High School debate team gather with their awards after the Oct. 18 competition in Junction City. The Novice Team placed fourth overall.

A total of 18 Manhattan High School debaters competed in the Junction City High School Invitational Debate Tournament Oct. 17.

In the Junior Varsity division, the team of Peyton Woods and Ivy Auletti placed third. Kalani Dissanayake and Jesse Davila placed seventh.

Woods received an individual honor, for first ranked speaker. Sam Delong won second ranked speaker and Auletti seventh ranked speaker.

In the Novice Division, the team of Naomi Wong and Sebastian Balderson placed sixth.

Jackson Tanner and Gil Bonilla Martinez placed seventh.

Also competing and placing in the team, Abel Martinez and Aricela Martinez placed ninth, Aidan Sanders and Jesse Jackson placed eleventh and Trey Marihugh and Zeke Moore placed twelfth.

In addition to Delong and Auletti, another member of the teams received recognition.

Balderson received an individual honor, as eighth ranked speaker.

Overall, the squad placed fourth among the attending schools.
