Manhattan High School won’t be the only school next year with a new principal.
Marlatt Elementary Principal Brett Nelson announced Saturday he will begin a new position as superintendent of USD 379 Clay County School District beginning July 1.
“While I have great excitement about the professional challenges that lie ahead, I will truly miss serving the students and families at Marlatt,” he said in his announcement. “Marlatt is such a special place. My family and I will always value the relationships that we have developed during the past eight years.”
Nelson interviewed with the board for the new position on Feb. 18. The current Clay County superintendent, Mike Folks, turned in his resignation, effective at the end of the school year.
During his time in USD 383, Nelson served as a Manhattan High School teacher and girls soccer coach, as well as an elementary school teacher.
