Manhattan residents will soon have the opportunity to voice their thoughts about the residential development site proposed for 1445 Anderson Ave.

The neighborhood meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Collegiate Villa Condonominiums office at 1532 College Ave.

The meeting will foster discussions about the proposed development that includes an apartment building, hotel, retail space and a parking garage containing 373 stalls.

The proposed development also seeks to add a roof deck, indoor pool, basketball court and gym.

“It’s kind of a little different thing than a traditional apartment complex. We think it’s a pretty dynamic and innovative idea,” said Chris Elsey, project developer.

The site contains about 98,269 square feet. The proposed six-story building containing the hotel and apartments aims to house 125 hotel rooms and 725 apartment bedrooms.

The ground floor of the building is planned to serve as a meeting space for apartment residents, hotel guests and the public to interact with one another, Elsey said.

He said this could be an attractive point for Kansas State University alumni, as the project location is close to campus.

Additionally, the design opts for using native limestone as building materials to match campus buildings.

Sparrow Speciality Coffee and Eye Care Associates are among the current tenants at the proposed location.
