The K-State Police Department on Wednesday arrested a 23-year-old Junction City man in connection with a shooting incident near the KSU Foundation in early May.
Erin Trent Boykin is charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, criminal damage to property and criminal discharge of a firearm. Additional charges may be pursued, according to the police department. Boykin bonded out of the Riley County Jail for $50,000.
Police determined the individuals involved in the incident are not connected with the university.
Officers responded to a report of shots fired around 11 a.m. May 9 at the Foundation building at Kimball Avenue and Denison Avenue. Initial scanner reports said authorities thought the incident may have been related to road rage.
The two people initially made contact off campus on the east side of Manhattan and continued to the parking lot north of the foundation, where shots were fired and struck a vehicle. It is unclear whether the two individuals know each other.
No injuries were reported from the incident.
