A Manhattan woman died Thursday from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at a Junction City indoor firing range.
At 1:30 p.m., officers from the Junction City Police Department responded to a report of a person suffering from a gunshot wound at Godfrey’s Indoor Ranges and Tactical Supply, 920 N. Washington St.
The Junction City Fire Department pronounced the woman, 26-year-old Audra Vonsenden, dead at the scene.
JCPD said there is no evidence of criminal activity, and an autopsy will be scheduled soon.
Todd Godfrey, owner of the shooting range, said on Facebook that the business would be closed Friday, and he’ll provide an update when it is open again.
“We would like you to keep her family and our employees in your prayers,” he said. “It has been a tough day for everybody involved. We would like to thank the Junction City Police Department, Junction City Fire Department, the Geary County Coroner and anyone else involved for their prompt response to this situation.”
Because the incident is still being investigated, JCPD said it wouldn’t release any additional information. JCPD asks that anyone with information contact police at 785-762-5912.
