Riley County police arrested a Manhattan man Tuesday night after a reported assault and a car crash with a bicyclist.
Officials arrested Jordan Hildreth, 24, on charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated battery, DUI, failure to stop at an accident, duty of driver to provide information, battery on a law enforcement officer, interference with a law enforcement officer and criminal damage to property.
Officers responded to a 911 call of an in-progress sexual assault of a woman at 10:05 p.m. The woman told police that the assailant had left the area. The Mercury typically doesn’t publish the names of sexual assault victims.
A few minutes later, emergency dispatchers received a report of a vehicle and bicyclist crash near the intersection of Heritage Court and Wreath Avenue.
Officers found Hildreth in a damaged vehicle in the 1700 block of Wreath Avenue shortly after and took him into custody at 10:15 p.m. Responders took Hildreth to Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan for treatment of his injuries, where he was later released.
Hildreth is confined at the Riley County Jail on a $140,000 bond.
