A 7-year-old Manhattan boy is recovering at a Topeka hospital after being struck by a car Wednesday morning.
Aaron Wintermote, public information officer for the Riley County Police Department, said the boy — a Bergman Elementary student — was struck at the intersection of Tuttle Cove and Terra Heights Drive around 8 a.m. Wednesday. Emergency responders took the boy to Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, then airlifted him to Stormont Vail in Topeka.
In a social media post from Bergman Elementary, principal Steve Koch said the boy had been struck by a car while waiting for the bus Wednesday morning.
Officials didn’t provide a name for the student or updated information on his condition when asked Wednesday afternoon.
