Sunflower Showdown: Kansas State vs Kansas

Willie the Wildcat celebrates after a Kansas State touchdown during the Sunflower Showdown at Bill Snyder Family Stadium on Nov. 10. Two of K-State’s first three games this fall will be at home.

Kansas State’s first game under Chris Klieman will kick off in the evening.

Game time for the opener against Nicholls on Aug. 31 is set for 6 p.m. at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Per a release from the Big 12 Conference and its television partners, the game will air exclusively on ESPN+.

The kickoff times for K-State’s following two games — versus Bowling Green on Sept. 7 and at Mississippi State on Sept. 14 — also were announced Thursday.

The contests against the Falcons and the Bulldogs both will kick off at 11 a.m.

K-State and Bowling Green will air on FSN, while the marquee non-conference tilt at Mississippi State will be carried on either ESPN or ESPN2.

The opener marks the first meeting between K-State and Nichools. K-State faced Bowling Green once before, blanking the Falcons 58-0 in 1997.

The matchup with Mississippi State is the second of a home-and-home series. Last season, the Bulldogs came into Manhattan and handed the Wildcats a 31-10 loss. Mississippi State has won two of the three meetings all-time.

It marks the fourth time in the last six seasons K-State takes on an SEC team, and the second time it will play on the road in SEC country in the past three years.
