Felix Anudike-Uzomah’s breakout performance Saturday caught the eye of the Big 12’s conference office.
Anudike-Uzomah, a sophomore defensive end for Kansas State, notched five tackles (three for loss), three sacks and forced two fumbles in the team’s 31-23 win over Southern Illinois. On Monday, the Big 12 honored him for the outing, naming him the league’s newcomer of the week.
Anudike-Uzomah’s five tackles were the most among the Wildcats’ defensive linemen Saturday, while his total tackles, tackles for loss, sacks and forced fumble tallies all marked personal bests in a single game.
A Kansas City, Mo., native, Anudike-Uzomah is the seventh Wildcat to win the conference’s newcomer of the week since the award started in 2016. He is the fourth K-State honoree in the last two years, joining teammates Deuce Vaughn (twice in 2020) and Will Howard (once last fall).
