K-State DE Wyatt Hubert vs. Bowling Green 2019

Kansas State defensive end Wyatt Hubert (right) attempts to sack Bowling Green quarterback Darius Wade at Bill Snyder Family Stadium on Saturday. Hubert left the game in the first half with an undisclosed injury and did not return. He sat out K-State's victory at Mississippi State on Sept. 14 but will be available to play in Saturday's Big 12 opener against Oklahoma State.

Kansas State’s defense will be back at full strength Saturday — the starting unit, anyway.

After missing a pair of starters — defensive end Wyatt Hubert and cornerback Walter Neil Jr. — in its win over Mississippi State on Sept. 14, K-State head coach Chris Klieman said both will be back this week.

“They both have practiced the last three practices. They’ll be ready to go,” Klieman said during his weekly press conference Tuesday, alluding to K-State’s upcoming game at Oklahoma State at 6 p.m. Saturday.

The news wasn’t as good for reserve linebacker Cody Fletcher. Expected to be a key member of the rotation this season, Fletcher suffered a lower leg injury in preseason camp. He has yet to play this season.

That isn’t expected to change Saturday.

“I would say that Cody is out this week,” Klieman said.
