Kansas State’s Aliyah Carter (2) sneaks a ball past a Creighton defender during a match at Bramlage Coliseum on March 20, 2021. Carter earned All-Big 12 Preseason honors for a second straight year on Wednesday.

The Big 12 Conference announced Wednesday that its volleyball coaches had unanimously selected Kansas State outside hitter Aliyah Carter to the preseason all-conference squad for a second straight season.

Carter was the only Wildcat to make the 15-member All-Big 12 Preseason Team, and one of nine unanimous selections.

As a sophomore last season, Carter was second in the league and first on the team with 4.03 killers per set, earning her a spot on the All-Big 12 First Team for a second time as well as an AVCA Midwest All-Region First Team selection.

She logged at least 20 kills five times in 2021 and has 11 such matches, which is tied for sixth in school history.

The Dubuque, Iowa, native is the first K-State player in the rally-scoring era to average more than four killers per set in two separate seasons, as well as the first to be a unanimous first-team all-conference pick in each of her first two years.

The Wildcats will open the 2022 season on Aug. 26 when they host the K-State Invitational at Bramlage Coliseum.
