Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: Ayoka Lee is this week’s Big 12 Freshman of the Week.
The Kansas State freshman averaged 19 points, 8.5 rebounds and three blocks in the Wildcats’ two games against Texas Tech and No. 2 Baylor last week. It is Lee’s ninth time winning the award this season, tying her with former Oklahoma star Courtney Paris for the most Freshman of the Week honors in Big 12 women’s basketball history.
Lee notched a career-high in points against Texas Tech with 24 while also blocking four shots and grabbing five rebounds. In her follow-up against Baylor, she achieved a double-double, scoring 14 points and snaring 12 rebounds.
Lee is averaging 15.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game this season. She is also making 55.4% of her shots attempted this season.
