Ayoka Lee continues to stack the hardware.
Kansas State’s star freshman earned her second consecutive Big 12 Freshman of the Week honor Monday afternoon after a big week. Lee became the second Wildcat in program history, and the first since Rachel Ranke in 2018, to earn consecutive Big 12 Freshman of the Week awards.
The Byron, Minn., forward made the Junkanoo Jam All-Tournament Team in the Bimini Division for her big games in the paint against Memphis and Michigan State last week. Lee averaged 18 points on 79% shooting with 10 rebounds and four blocks a contest.
Lee dropped 14 points, seven boards and two blocks against Memphis, but had an even bigger game against No. 15 Michigan State. She scored 22 points on 8-of-9 shooting with 13 rebounds and six blocks. Lee had her second double-double with five or more blocks of the season against the Spartans.
Lee’s six blocks against Michigan State tied for the seventh-most in a single game for the program.
Lee is averaging 14.3 points and 10.7 boards on the season, both marks good enough for second on the team. Her .600 field goal percentage, 21 blocks and 3.5 blocks per game lead the Wildcats. Lee also is third in the nation and leads all freshmen in blocks per game and is the top rebounder in the Big 12.
The Wildcats play UIW at Bramlage Coliseum at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
