Kansas State men’s basketball forwards Kaosi Ezeagu and Montavious Murphy both are sidelined with the same ailment: knee injuries.
Head coach Bruce Weber feels far more confident about a quick return for Ezeagu, however.
“He’s a disciplined young man,” Weber said of the third-year sophomore. “He wants to be back on the court, so I think he’s going to put all the time to get back in sooner than later. I hope his knee and his body agrees with that.”
Murphy, a sophomore, battled knee injuries last season. They also ended his freshman campaign early, undergoing a corrective procedure in March. Weber had no timetable for Murphy’s return, only stating that “it’s an ongoing process” for the Texas native.
“(We’re having) discussions with his family and the doctors,” Weber said. “We’ll see where we’re going to go with the next step.”
K-State opens Big 12 play Tuesday, traveling to Ames, Iowa, to face Iowa State at 8 p.m. The game will air on ESPNU.
