Joe Gelroth, on the bridge, and Patrick O’Neal repair the Konza Prairie Nature Trail bridge that goes over Kings Creek on Monday. The bridge was washed out from heavy rain and flooding on Aug. 29. Gelroth and O’Neal, who both are involved with Konza upkeep, hope to have the trail re-opened this weekend. The bridge was put in place in 2014 and was washed out again in 2016. In the past, the bridge was used to cross over a different part of Kings Creek but Gelroth kept having to raise it. “Mother Nature said, ‘Oh, I can get that, just watch,’” said Gelroth.
