Police arrested a Topeka man on $100,000 bond for probation violation. The original charges included pouring gas outside someone’s home and attempting to light it on fire in 2020.
Riley County police arrested Jason Melton, 38, of Topeka, on Thursday for probation violation.
On Sept. 25, 2020, police arrested him for aggravated assault and attempted aggravated arson. Melton poured gas outside a house and tried to light it on fire in the 2500 block of Farm Bureau Road in Manhattan. On Oct. 3, 2020, police arrested Melton for criminal trespass and stalking in the same location.
On Dec. 17, 2019, police arrested him for aggravated assault. Melton pulled a handgun on someone during an argument in the 800 block of Cassell Road in Manhattan.
Police didn’t release further information about the case.
