Richard and Colleen Umscheid of Manhattan celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their children and grandchildren on a trip to Colorado in June. They will be celebrating with family during a private dinner at the beginning of August.
Rick and Colleen were high school sweethearts. They were united in marriage on Aug. 23, 1969, at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan.
Rick served in the Navy. He worked as an accountant at Kansas Farm Bureau Life Insurance and at Kansas State University. Colleen worked in the claims department for Kansas Farm Bureau. After she retired, she worked as an administrative assistant at Northview Elementary School.
They have two children, Kimberly Umscheid Chambers (Timothy) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Danny Umscheid (Kristin) of Ojai, California. They have four grandchildren: Cole Chambers, Jasmine Umscheid, Tate Chambers, and Maple Umscheid.
