Genesis Health Clubs has pushed back the opening of its new gym in Manhattan to late March.
In December, Genesis said the gym at 2704 Allison Ave. would open by the end of January. However, officials ran into some weather-related issues while digging up ground for the hot tub and pool, said Jake McCabe, vice president of marketing for Genesis.
“We promise this gorgeous facility will be worth the wait,” McCabe said in a Monday email to The Mercury.
Crews are working on tiling and interior work as well as finishing up the tennis courts, McCabe said. Rock Construction of Wichita is the project contractor for the project.
“Our crews have been working very hard to get the club complete and ready for luxury fitness,” McCabe said.
The 70,000-square-foot gym will include a running track, basketball court, three tennis courts, exercise studios, steam room, a sauna and therapy pools, in addition to gym equipment and machines.
This project has been a long time coming with plans for this new gym dating back five years when Genesis purchased Max Fitness from local businessman Dave Dreiling in February 2015.
The company indicated the gym would open in 2016 when it first announced the Max Fitness purchase.
