Officials at Stormont Vail Health announced Friday that it will become a minority owner in Manhattan Surgical Hospital.
The move is a continued expansion into the Manhattan health market for Topeka-based Stormont. It first invested in Medical Associates of Manhattan, now Cotton O’Neil Manhattan, in 2012.
Dr. Jamie McAtee, board chairman for the physician-owned Manhattan Surgical Hospital, said the partnership will focus on strengthening current services and bringing new ones to the community.
“This partnership is the next step in our plan to support our patients and the community by expanding care delivery in Manhattan,” Stormont CEO Randy Peterson said. “This will include developing a new medical office space and recruiting additional providers.”
Details of Stormont’s ownership stake were not disclosed. Both parties expect the transaction to be finalized over the next 90 days.
