Nice to see the person who has benefitted from well over $20 million in economic development… tax… dollars is catering to the area’s “sports diginitaries”.  Today’s Mercury says a new sports bar is being opened by Mr. Dreiling that will have a VIP section for “sports dignitaries”.  Guess it is to much to ask that local coaches and players be observed imbibing out in public.  As today’s society crowns football and basketball players as gods… icons… idols we want every kid to mimic, guess it is better they be given a private venue in which to banter and booze it up.  After all, we wouldn’t want “sports dignitaries” to be asked to mingle with the common people, now would we.

Admission to a “VIP area for sports dignitaries” will be interesting.  Just what qualifies… Just who will be the “gatekeeper” to determine the level of status that earns admission to the restricted area?  Wonder how closely RCPD will watch those “dignitaries” leaving their own special drinking establishment.  If too many high school coaches or college players are citied for driving drunk, the local shadow government may well drop the hammer on enforcement.

We continue to hand the Chamber millions of dollars under the guise of ‘economic development’.  Wonder if local Chamber dignitaries will be turned away from this VIP lounge??  Of course not!

Yep, a drinking establishment with a cordoned off section for athletes, coaches, sports reporters and politicians is an excellent idea.  Hundreds of local parents will be explaining to their kids that this is one more benefit of playing sports.  Get good enough… Get recognizable and you’ll even be given the password to get you into a private drinking establishment.  Great example for your youth!!!
