Hey, Michael!!!! Manhattan doesn’t allow smoking in public. Manhattan frowns on smoking “mind-altering” drugs. Yet, we’re gonna pay big bucks for a statue of an Indian offering those visiting Manhattan his “peace pipe full of Peyote”. As kids ask their parents, “What’s that think the Indian has in his hand?” The parents can answer, “Oh, that’s the Native American’s bong!” The Native Americans used to sit around campfires, smoking these pipes. Called ‘em “peace pipes” since everyone left the fire with a warm fuzzy feeling… buzzed.
Sheesh! Can’t we find something better to adorn the round-a-bout with than this “lesson in history”? I can just see it when RCPD raids some student’s apartment and finds the “makings”. “Officer, the City has this bronze statue of an Indian offering his pipe to me. I took from that it was legal, here!”
