Last night, I was watching “The Storm of the Century”, one of Stephen King’s better cinematic adaptations.  King is definitely a Maine person.  I have spent some time in Maine, and it is as weird as King.  Millenocket,

Derry, Bangor, Bar Harbor, or Bah Hahbor in Maine talk.  Kings characters have names like Alton, Katrina and Pipper and Ursula.  It is a strange place. I spent a July there several years ago and it was COLD.  The people are more rural than Russell, Kansas…the same is true for much of New England. I had a friend in Manhattan who went to school with King.  He said that the guy was weird even then.
