The Douglass Community Recreation Center is a branch of Manhattan Parks and Recreation Department. The facility is open to the general public and is free of charge! As recreation is always changing, so is the Douglass Center menu of activities! Open gym hours are available every day for anyone wanting to practice or play basketball. The Douglass Center also offers billiards, table tennis, air hockey, bowling, shuffleboard, ladder golf, dodgeball, and volleyball.
To help motivate and satisfy the fitness goals of members, the Douglass Center has recently started to offer fitness classes such as Zumba aerobics, and opened a brand new fitness area in our annex building. These programs do require a fee for equipment maintenance and to compensate instructors. These classes can be registered for by simply coming to the Douglass Center and signing up.
The event welcomes grades 3rd through 9th and will hold a chalk art contest, games, music, prizes and a cookout. Willie the Wildcat will also make an appearance. For more information call 785-587-2777.
