Footsteps in the Flint Hills: Epoch Animals

Tuesday, July 1 @ 8:00 am

Explore animals that traveled through the Flint Hills during the Ice Age with the help of the summer traveling exhibit, Ice Age Imperials. We will discover what type of animals lived in the Ice Age Epoch and how they survived the intense climate.

Animals such as the woolly mammoth, the saber-toothed cat and the giant ground sloth will be studied. We will discuss the short faced bear, dire wolf and ancient bison. Experience firsthand why fat isn’t all that bad as we learn about their cold climate adaptations. Work with ice and learn how real paleontologists discover the mysteries of the Ice Age by digging into the frozen past.

For ages K-second grade.
