X-Plosion takes championship in Lawrence

The Manhattan Optimist 14-and-under X-Plosion fastpitch softball team went 6-0 to win the Phenix Spring Slugfest tournament championship this past weekend in Lawrence.

The X-Plosion opened pool play with a 4-2 win against the KC Edge from Tonganoxie on Saturday.  The X-Plosion then faced the Topeka Magic, winning 4-3 and ended Saturday‚Äôs pool play against the Topeka Bobcats, picking up a 6-2 win.

On Sunday, the X-Plosion returned to Lawrence to face the Topeka Lady Warriors in the final game of pool play, and won 11-3.

The X-Plosion entered bracket play as the No. 1 seed with a 4-0 record Sunday afternoon.

The X-Plosion faced the No. 5-seeded Topeka Bobcats again and won 7-1 and then faced the KC Edge in the championship game, winning 4-0.

Players for the Manhattan X-Plosion include Chloe Schnee, Riley, Alyssa Mitoska, Haley Petty, Carley Nelson, Joceline Eichem, Madison Figge, and Dani Silva, Demi Kunkle, Grace Suther, Tatum Brunkow.

The X-Plosion is coached by Duane Petty,  Dennis Nelson and Jeanna Eichem and Charlene Mitoska is the team manager .

Now 6-4 on the season, the X-Plosion and play again April 27- 28 in the Manhattan Spring Slam.
