Mason was working at Bill Snyder Stadium

Wilson was doing masonry work on new restrooms on the east side of the stadium when a wooden board on the scaffolding gave way and caused him to fall onto the parking lot. The accident occurred at around 12:30 p.m. Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release from Kansas State University.

Oscar Ruiz, K-State police captain, said law enforcement personnel notified his next of kin shortly after the incident.

Steve Galitzer, K-State director of public safety, said the university would be working with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration as it takes over investigating the accident.

Work was halted at the stadium while an OHSA official conducted the investigation. But workers were told Tuesday that they could resume work when the scaffolding was fixed. Galitzer interpreted that as a suggestion that the OHSA investigator may have concluded his on-site work.

K-State sources say this was the first construction related fatality since May 9, 2007, when a worker died in a forklift accident while working on the construction of the Jardine Apartment complex.
