Women arrested at Fairfield Inn on drug charges

Riley County police arrested two Utah women Wednesday night at the Fairfield Inn, 300 Colorado St, on charges of theft and drug possession.

Anntonette Duran, 21, and Renee Archuleta, 19, are confined in the Riley County jail. Duran was charged with burglary, possession of stolen property and controlled substances, and no drug tax stamp. Her bond was set at $10,000. Archuleta was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $1,000.

The arrest followed a call from Susan Moss, 54, a guest at the Fairfield Inn, who told police that her purse, which contained prescription drugs, was missing from her unlocked room. Police concluded from hotel video surveillance that the suspects were also guests of the hotel and were staying in an adjacent room, Lt. Richard Fink said.

The suspects invited the police into their room, where they found the missing purse. Police then obtained a search warrant and found both suspects to be in possession of small amounts of marijuana.

It does not appear the suspects knew the victim, Fink said. Police returned the stolen purse, valued at $3,230, to Moss.
