Wilson named administrative judge

By The Mercury

Riley County District Judge Meryl Wilson has been named administrative district judge of the 21st judicial district.

Wilson said he was notified recently of his appointment to the position by the office of the Kansas Supreme Court. The appointment is to be effective June 10.

He will succeed Judge Paul Miller in that position. Miler announced his retirement earlier this year.

The chief judge is responsible for personnel decisions, assignment of cases, and decisions on recusals. The chief judge also presents the host county with the court’s non-salary budget needs.

Wilson was appointed to the district court bench in April of 1997.
