Why doesn’t athletics give K-State its extra money?

By Ned Seaton

Q: I see in The Mercury that the Big 12 will be sending $22 million to each of the eight continuing “schools” in the league. From that, one can assume that Kansas State University will receive $22 million, which the university could sure use to reduce student tuition or perhaps to increase faculty salaries. I wonder if that is the case. Will the money ever get to “Kansas State University” (the “school”) or will it all stay in the K-State Athletics fund?
