To the Editor:
We just received our Westar Energy bill. I was curious as to why my bill went up almost $30. Upon review of my bill, I discovered that it was increased almost 50 percent due to charges, fees and taxes.
If the commission that reviews Westar Energy’s requests for rate increases would stipulate that the company drop all fees and charges, then a rate increase might be justified. Otherwise, Wester is giving itself a raise without the commission’s approval. We don’t have the luxury of switching electric companies when their charges and fees are increased.
