In the opening round of the Hillsboro midseason tournament, the Wamego Red Raiders squeaked past Republic County, 63-58, in a game that went back and forth all night long.
Wamego trailed by 15-14 after the first quarter and 25-24 heading to halftime, but pulled out the comeback win in the second half behind Eli Miller’s team-high 22 points. Trenton York and Dillon Blain each had nine.
Wamego advances in the winner’s bracket to face Hesston, which beat Riley Co. in its opener 70-30 on Monday. The two teams will square off at 6 p.m. on Friday.
