Wamego qualifies for seven events

The Wamego track team competed at the Class 4A regional on Friday in Abilene, with the girls’ team taking sixth and the boys finishing ninth.

Allison Seufert led girls’ qualifiers after finishing first in the 800 meter. Seufert joined Brooke Ward, Riley Wilson and Tessa Seeberger with a first-place finish in the 4x800 relay.

Brooke Woodward was first in the javelin and Maddie Vontz was second in the triple jump.

Matt Scherer was first in the 3,200 with Ethan Artzer in third. Eli Miller was second in discus and the 4x800 relay of Scherer, Anthony Klecan, Colby Nelsen and Cannon Woodward will head to state after finishing fourth.
