Riley County officers arrested a Wamego man Wednesday in connection with an internal theft at the Flint Hills Area Builders Association.

Riley County Public Information Officer Matthew Droge said Tracy Roberts, 44, the executive officer of the association, was arrested after detectives were made aware of an approximately $25,000 theft from the association, reported on Tuesday.

Droge said that when reporting the crime, Roberts’ fellow members expressed their concern over Roberts’ alleged involvement.

Officers arrested Roberts at the police department at about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of theft and making false information.

Droge said a search warrant was conducted at Roberts’ Wamego residence and said the case is still under investigation.

He said he could not comment on when the theft is alleged to have taken place.

Roberts was released on $20,000 bond.
