Wamego golf takes 2nd at Chapman

The Wamego High boys’ golf team took second place at the weather-shortened Chapman Invitational on Tuesday.

The Red Raiders finished with a team score of 169, with Abilene taking first with a 163. Concordia finished third with a 171.

The golfers completed 13 holes before the tournament was called, with medals awarded based on only the front nine scores.

Wamego freshman Ryan Elder was the top finisher for the Red Raiders with a 3-over 39, good for second place. Dane Stewart took fourth with a 4-over 40. Parker Waters had a 43, while Austin Waters finished with a 47. Ryan Helus shot a 49 and Luke Hannan rounded out the scoring with a 55.

Abilene’s Marcus Willey took first individually with an even-par 36.
