Wamego girls thump Riley County

At Hillsboro for the girls’ Trojan Classic, the Wamego girls outscored Riley County in each quarter, but used a decisive second quarter to win their opening-round game at the tournament, 44-30.

The Red Raiders (9-0, 4-0 NCKL) outscored the Falcons (4-5, 3-1 Mid-East) 9-2 in the second quarter to take a 21-12 lead, while playing fairly close the rest of the game.

Kaylee Page led all scorers with 20 points, while Lanie Page added eight. Madison Vargo and Heidi Prockish each scored nine to lead the Falcons.

Wamego is ranked No. 1 Class 4A this season.
