Wamego girls finish perfect in NCKL

By The Mercury

At Marysville, the Wamego girls’ baskeball team never quite found the dagger against Marysville Tuesday night, but the Red Raiders managed to win every quarter in what turned into a 17-point win in the end.

Wamego led by nine at halftime and 10 heading into the fourth quarter before shutting the door on the Bulldogs (15-4, 7-2 NCKL) to cap an undefeated NCKL title run.

Lanie Page scored a game-high 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Wamego, while Kaylee Page added 14 points and 10 boards.

Wamego (20-0, 8-0) now focuses in on sub-state next week, where it will most likely open against Ottawa at the Baldwin regional before a potential showdown with Hayden for a spot at state.
